Those of you who’ve known me during my 40 years on the air in Baton Rouge know that I’m a Who freak. I’ve seen the concerts, read the books, collected the records.
One of the most famous…or infamous…events took place exactly 43 years ago yesterday. Drummer Keith Moon, having ingested God-knows-how-much wild animal tranquilizer, passed out on his drum kit. Pete Townshend put out a plea for a drummer from the audience, a plea that was answered by young Scotty Halpin.
And the rest, as they say, is Rock-n-Roll history. As a special treat for those of you who have two hours to kill, here’s the whole concert, guest drummer and all!
