GORDY RUSH

Sports Co-Host/Commentator

LSU football fans still remember Gordy Rush as an intense, hard-hitting special teams player for the Tigers from 1988-1990. The New Orleans native brings that same fire as Football Analyst for Eagle 98.1 "The LSU Gameday Experience" , our block of in-depth analysis and conversation before and after every LSU game. This fall will mark Gordy's twelfth season on LSU football broadcasts.

Gordy spends a great deal of time giving back to both his alma mater and the Baton Rouge community. He serves as the emcee of the LSU Tiger Tour which makes 16 stops through the South featuring LSU head Football coach Les Miles, LSU Basketball Coach Trent Johnson, and other coaches. He serves as a board member of the Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation, secretary of the LSU L Club, chairman of the National Kidney Foundation in Baton Rouge, board member of the Capital Area United Way marketing committee, and a member of the board for the Paula Manship YMCA.

Rush, a 1991 graduate of the LSU School of Business in Finance, originally attended Purdue University on a football scholarship. After playing a year with the Boilermakers as the backup to future All-Pro defensive back Rod Woodson, Rush transferred to LSU in 1987. The three-year Tiger letterman was a part of The Sporting News Magazine's "Best Special Teams Unit" of 1988 and was named 1990 Special Teams Player of the Year.

In 1997 through a freak radio promotion, Rush qualified for the 1998 United States National Bobsled Team by placing in the top twenty in the U.S. Push Trials in Lake Placid, New York prior to the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games.

A graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, he is the son of Gordon and Beth Rush of Gretna, La. and has one sister, Lynn. Rush currently resides in Baton Rouge with his wife Ashley and new son Gordon L. Rush IV.
