When I say the word “traffic,” you get a vivid mental picture. Most people get the same image. But here at Eagle 98.1, “traffic” means something else altogether. It’s the Traffic Department that handles all the scheduling of anything that goes on the air – commercials, news, programs, weather sponsors, special reports, everything.
The reason I mention this is that today is National Broadcast Traffic Professional’s Day. Here at Eagle 98.1, our Traffic Department is headed up by this lady:
Her name is Lisa Wilson. Anytime I have a problem with, say, a missing commercial, I know I can call Lisa, and she will quickly and efficiently curse me under her breath. But I also know that problems like that must, under no circumstances, go unreported and unfixed.
So while Lisa probably hates it when her office phone shows an incoming call from me, she knows that I’m on the ball, having found a problem that needs to be solved.
So here’s to Lisa Wilson, because today actually IS National Broadcast Traffic Professional’s Day.
(It’s also National Deviled Egg Day. I couldn’t make that up if I tried.)
