BJS rocks BR. Again.

Friday night, the Black Jacket Symphony stormed back into the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts and blew away the hundreds of Led Zeppelin fans that filled the auditorium.  The Drakette and I were there in the very center of the front row.  As I was for the BJS’s Pink Floyd show in January, I was honored to be MC for the evening.

As promised, the BJS rocked through Zeppelin’s “Led Zeppelin IV”, sound-for-sound, note-for-note.  Both the vocals and the music from the six specially-selected musicians for this endeavor were spot-on.  After a brief intermission, during which it was announced that the next BJS show, to be held in October, would be Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” album, the BJS returned to do a full set of other Led Zeppelin hits.

I’d like to take a moment to thank the entire BJS band and crew for making the Drakette and me feel like part of their family.  Prior to the show, we were taken backstage to meet the musicians, some of whom we had met back in January at the Pink Floyd show.  As a token of their appreciation for promoting their performance, they gave us a nice round of applause and invited us to join them in their customary pre-show drink.

During intermission, we were invited to join the band on their tour bus for a drink and some lighthearted conversation, and after the show, we were awarded with a lifetime backstage all-access pass.  The Drakette and I thank the BJS for their exceptional hospitality.  We look forward to being with you again for “Rumors” in the Fall.

If you still haven’t been to a Black Jacket Symphony performance, please take a moment to vist their website and see what you’ve been missing.
