Sting is hitting the road in support of his just-released album, 57th & 9th. More than three dozen shows have been announced for 2017, starting on Feb. 1 in Vancouver and wrapping up in mid April with a pair of dates in Paris. He’ll be backed by a band made up of longtime guitarist Dominic Miller, drummer Josh Freese and rhythm guitarist Rufus Miller.
Sting was last on the road this past summer with Peter Gabriel, where the two veteran artists played hit-filled solo sets as well as a few songs together. The upcoming tour, which is hitting some smaller venues than ones Sting has typically played since he became a global star in the ’80s with the Police, will feature songs from his new album. He’s pointed out that 57th & 9th is his most rock-oriented set in years.
