The program takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 1 at Brown-Holt Theatre on the campus of The Dunham School, located at 11236 Roy Emerson Drive in Baton Rouge. Onsite check-in begins at 7 a.m.

Sideline Summer School is designed for athletic trainers, physical therapists and sideline medical providers. The program is also ideal for coaches of youth teams, especially volunteer coaches, who may not have formal training in sports-related injuries.
“Youth sports is all about having fun, but safety has to be at the core of athletic competition,” said Jeremy Burnham, M.D., medical director of sports medicine, Ochsner Baton Rouge. “Our sideline program helps educate coaches and athletic trainers on understanding and reducing heat-related injuries, concussions and other basics on recognizing the warning signs of injuries.”
Sideline Summer School will feature presentations from leading sports medicine experts, including Sean Bradley, M.D., and Christopher Bankhead, M.D., along with former United States Olympic Team Physician Mary Lloyd Ireland, M.D.
Created earlier this year, the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute is a five-year partnership between Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute and world-renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James R. Andrews of the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. The partnership brings Andrews’ expertise, research and education into a platform that strengthens best-in-class care for patients and athletes across Louisiana and Mississippi.
